French Onion Soup
Step one. Buy these from CB.
Step two: Take 4 onions, slice them, and melt 3-4 tablespoons of butter in a big saucepan. Cook onions in butter until coated and sizzling, about…5 minutes. Cover, reduce heat to medium low, and cook for 40 minutes until golden brown, shrunken, and smelling delicious.
Add two cans of condensed beef broth, 1 1/2 cups of water, 1/8 teaspoon of thyme, 1 bay leaf, and freshly ground pepper. Bring to a boil, turn down to medium low and simmer for 15 more minutes.
Toast a 3/4-inch thick piece of French bread and place in bottom of oven-proof bowl. Fill bowl with onion soup and top with grated Swiss cheese and Parmesan. Place under broiler for 4-5 minutes until cheese is melted and begins to brown.
Eat and be merry.
