NYC Girls Weekend
Well, we sure had a lot of fun when I visited NYC with my mom and my best friend’s Mom and met my best friend up there. (Got that?)
It was SUCH a blast. We got to do such girly things, like get our make-up done at Saks and buy macaroons and see Newsies. Have you ever seen Newsies, the movie? The musical is incredible. Not only does it feature three things I love (boys, singing boys, singing and dancing boys), but it also features former cast members of SYTYCD. Big plus for such a big fan.
We had incredible food, first at Bistango, my gluten-free love in the Murray Hill area, and then at the Blue Water Grill, a restaurant that is bestie’s favorite and now one of mine, as well. Mahi over three cheese polenta? Yeah, OK. I’m in.
I also had my first martini (well, it was my mom’s, to be fair) and tried the first olive I’ve ever enjoyed. I’ve been trying olives every time I meet them for the past five years, and never before have I actually got past that first sour bite. And now I think I might be a convert, much to my delight. It’s so much cooler to get a dirty martini with three olives and a side of rocks than a Cosmo, IMHO.
Here are some pictures. Go see Newsies and go on a trip sometime with your Mom, your best friend, and her Mom. It was TOO much fun. Room happy hours and night caps are better with girl talk.

I LOVE NEWSIES! I could probably sing you the entire soundtrack on the spot. I am super duper jealous. I’ll add it to the list of musicals my husband will never take me to see. (Guess I’ll just have to take my mom, my bff, and my bff’s mom…)
